What are Your Passion and Purpose?

CEO

I enjoyed listening to Oprah Winfrey’s commencement speech, 2013 at Harvard University. There are several takeaways from her thought-provoking and inspiring speech. An idea flashed on my mind to write an article to identify the true purpose and calling. Many people don’t realize their true purpose and calling resulting in struggling throughout their lives.

Identifying one’s passions and leading life with purpose and meaning is easier said than done. Most people don’t know how to discover their true passions. They grope in darkness due to a lack of guidance. In this regard, I will discuss discovering your passion and leading your life with purpose and meaning.

The children have different dreams in their childhood. As they grow their dreams change and passions change. When they come to a particular age, they will be able to discover their true passions. When you want to discover your passions, take psychometric tests such as MBTI. You can also seek advice from your educator, coach, or psychologist to identify your passions. You can also identify your passions easily when you have self-awareness. Look back on your life and reflect on what brought you success and happiness. Ask your heart what you love the most. It unveils clearly your interests and passions. When you do certain activities, you get excited. In contrast, when you do certain activities, you are bored. The activities that excite you are your true passions. You can shortlist the passion as per your age, environment, and availability of resources.

After identifying your passion, you must lead your life with purpose and meaning. Go to a serene place. Do meditation. Enjoy solitude. It helps you find purpose in your life. You are blessed with one life. So, you must avoid insignificant activities and emphasize significant activities. When you emphasize important and productive activities continuously with a focus and work hard consistently, you will be able to enjoy your journey and reach your destination of success.

In my life, I failed to identify my passions in my childhood due to a lack of guidance. Additionally, I was born into a toxic family and grew up in a toxic environment. After I joined the Indian Air Force when I was 18 years old, I started to discover my passions. I realized initially that my passion was to read and write. In middle age, I discovered that I have a passion to teach and inspire others. Subsequently, I realized that I have a passion for sharing my knowledge freely with the world and serving humanity. I discovered my passions due to my voracious reading and self-awareness. Currently, I am focusing on reading, writing, speaking, inspiring, sharing, and serving humanity. If I had a coach in the initial stage of my life, I would have identified my passions earlier and added immense value to the communities and societies. I discovered my passions due to my self-awareness which has been slow because I am dyslexic.

 Conclusion

“He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any How.” —Nietzsche

Everyone has passions. My passions are to read, write, teach, inspire, share, and serve others. Everyone has a purpose in life. My purpose is to share my knowledge freely with others. My purpose is to serve others. My purpose is to add value to communities and societies. Similarly, you must identify your passions and lead your life with purpose. Add value to your communities and societies as per your age, experience, environment, and availability of resources to lead your life with purpose and meaning.

Avoid busyness. Don’t mistake activity for achievement. Follow your core passion strictly without any distractions. Come out of your comfort zone. Don’t let your purpose languish. Take action because an unanswered calling is worse than no calling at all. Life is too short. Make it sweet. Remember, you live only once. To Conclude, discover your true passion, set your vision, and lead your life with a purpose to provide meaning to your life and leave your legacy to the next generations. Life is great.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” —Mark Twain

“If someone asks me a question, ‘What is it you see when you look out the window that is visible but not yet seen by others’ I will answer, ‘I see a world filled with people with a huge potential lying untapped. If I can identify their strengths and inspire them to unlock their potential, I feel that I have made a difference in the world.’” —Professor M.S. Rao
