Today there is a horde of different venues all across the world that are witness to some of the most extravagant wedding celebrations.

From film stars, business tycoons, and even royalties, here are some of the most expensive wedding celebrations ever.

  1. Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky 

    As the daughter of then-president Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton’s marriage to Marc Mezvinsky was an affair to remember. The interfaith marriage took place at Astor Courts and reportedly carries the price tag of a whopping $200,000. And that wasn’t the end of it. The gluten-free cake and flowers also bore an expense of $10,000 and $250,000 reportedly.
    From security arrangements to the 18-piece big band orchestra, the wedding celebration had all the things to serenade the guests. All these together make this wedding one of the most expensive in the eyes of the world stage.
     

  2. Prince Charles and Princess Diana
    Another royal wedding to make it to our list is that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The nuptials of this famous couple took place in St Paul’s Cathedral, London, and their wedding is recognized as one of the most popular weddings in history. The cost of the whole marriage is estimated at $70 million, which includes the wedding dress, 27 cakes, and the Ceylon Sapphire studded ring.
    Princess Diana’s wedding gown became so popular due to the 10,000 encrusted pearls and a 25 feet long train, which is why it is still regarded as the most expensive wedding gown ever!
     
  3. Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia
    The daughter of steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal had one of the most extravagant weddings to get solemnized on the world stage. Vanisha Mittal’s marriage to Amit Bhatia was held in Chateau Veaux le Vicomte near Paris in 2004 and is estimated to cost around $66 million.
    The wedding celebrations saw a scripted play, Moulin Rouge-style dancing, sumptuous Indian meals, and pampering the guests with luxury spa treatments, making it a popular affair. Even pop icon Kylie Minogue was paid $330,000 to perform during the celebrations and thus made the wedding a lavish affair.
     
  4. Prince William and Kate Middleton
    This royal affair is also dubbed one of the most extravagant weddings! The marriage of Prince Willian and Kate Middleton is also known as the “Wedding of the Century” for the right reasons.
    Everything about the celebrations was very regal. Right from the proceedings, the bridal costume, to the wows taken by the future king and queen of England, the whole wedding was covered on a large stage. The whole ceremony was done at Westminister Abbey, and it is estimated that the whole wedding cost £34 million.
     
  5. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise
    Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise got married in 2006, and their wedding was the talk of the town. The bride and groom wore dresses from the designer house of Armani, and it is reported that Katie Holme’s dress took 350 hours to stitch. Adorned with Swarovski crystals, the dress was a statement in itself.
    Apart from the costumes, what took center stage was the lavish Italian wedding. All guests were personally flown to the Odescalchi castle, and the wedding cost is estimated at around $2 million.
