3 Ways You Can Become an Impactful Female Leader in Your Business

CEO

I have been on a journey of self-discovery and finding my next levels in life for more than 20 years. After making my exit out of the military and  serving for 21 years, I faced the reality of my new unfulfilling corporate job, navigated a complicated divorce process and juggled being a single mother all at once, I felt the burnout every single day. And yet, I still felt a fire within me that I was unique and destined to do more in this life. So, I started working on the things that mattered most to me—helping others.

It started as a coincidence really. I was trying to get into the right rooms so I could learn and better myself, but then others started asking for my help. That is when I started to realize, I am a woman of impact and I want to help others uncover their power within as a leader. Here is a roadmap for how to start thinking like and becoming a woman of impact in three steps

  1. Stop Acting like the Employee When You’re the Employer
One common mistake I see women, who are trying to reach their next level in life make, is they act like the employee when they are the employer. They are afraid to speak up, afraid to take risks and make mistakes. It is natural! But when the employer is scared and does not take risks, there will be no movement in the business. Get out of your comfort zone and be willing to accept the change for your greater purpose in life, and start to think about serving others to uncover their greater purpose.
  2. Dream So Big It Scares You
If your dreams are starting to stress you out, it is probably because they are such good ideas that the idea of success is unimaginable, and you do not know how to achieve them. Luckily, the two make the perfect recipe for success. When you dream big, you will start to realize you have to act big too. Use the power of your fear to fuel your motivation instead. Do not let the voice inside your head saying “no you can’t” be the voice that wins.
  3. You Can’t Go Somewhere You’ve Never Been, So Get a Mentor
So, you have all these great ideas, big dreams, and the drive to make them happen, but you do not know where to start? It might be time to get a mentor. A mentor is an experienced or trusted advisor who can help provide guidance and or influence on others looking to reach their next step. Mentors are so important because you cannot go somewhere in business that you have never been before. Going back to the idea of dreaming so big it scares you, that is what a mentor wants to hear. Mentors will not come up with ideas for you, rather they will help you get to the next step in your plan.

I have met so many people in my life that at the time I did not realize they were such invaluable mentors. I started to become more accepting of the idea of putting myself out there, attending conferences and helping groups online. When I stopped letting my own head get in the way, I was able to let others in and hear their words to the highest level. These are people who have all been at the starting line at one point in their career just like you who are now teaching what someone else once taught them. I encourage you to get into the right rooms and be open to listening and being coached by a mentor who can help you get to your finish line.

As a leader, I am on a mission to help other women reach their full potential in life and flourish at owing their true passion. If you want to become an impactful female leader , don’t wait any longer and start your journey today by implementing a few of these actionable steps.
