Nashy-Nashai and Wanda Original also join for a mix of Christmas covers and new tracks on A Neon Christmas

The rising musicians signed to Lex Borrero and Tainy‘s Neon16 label are providing a new soundtrack for this holiday season. On Thursday, the Latin record label released A Neon Christmas, featuring original holiday tracks by its stars such as Alex Ponce and RMAND.

On the EP, Ponce provides a synth-infused original pop song, “Gracias Navidad.” Dominican star RMAND joins for “Está Brillando La Ciudad,” in which he sings about enjoying sancochito under the Christmas tree lights.

Also on the EP is Argentinian musician Nashy-Nashai, who won NEON16’s reality competition show La Firma. She sings on “Mi Unico Deseo,” a track about “seeking renewal and a fresh start” in the new year, according to a press release. The project closes off with “Tu Sonrisa” by Wanda Original, another holiday-inspired original.

All four artists released music of their own this year: Ponce released his debut album, Ser Humano, in March; Nashy-Nashai dropped singles “Egoísta” and “Ojalá;” Wanda Original collabed with Diego Smith on “TNT;” and RMAND dropped EP De Vuelta al Mundo.

RMAND spoke to Rolling Stone over the summer when he released the project. He said that his goal is to “bring the Dominican Republic to the next level.”

“People only see us for dembow,” he said at the time. “I want people to know that we make a lot of different music and it deserves a chance too.”
