Business, Events, news

In the exclusive Poodle Room of Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Magic Johnson’s Mount Rushmore Super Bash, brought to life by Fat Cats LIVE!, wasn’t just a soirée; it was a celebration of excellence, diversity, and philanthropy, benefiting the Y.E.S. Society. With Grand Marnier leading the sponsorship, the event was a sophisticated affair, hosted by legends Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Jeffrey Soffer, and Brett Mufson. It was a night where the crème de la crème of society raised their glasses to those who have reached the zenith of success and those on the cusp of etching their names in history.

Brett Mufson reflected on the journey, sharing, ‘Thank you all for being here. It’s been a 15 year journey. I was telling Magic to see all of you getting the use of what we put our blood, sweat and tears into is emotional.’

The gala was a constellation of stars, with luminaries like Doug Williams, Leonardo DiCaprio, and a host of others from various spheres, showcasing the rich mosaic of American pop culture. Magic Johnson, in his toast, remarked, ‘Mount Rushmore meant giving honor where honor is due, locally and nationally. And especially during Black History Month, it was a pleasure to raise a glass and toast these incredible individuals. I am grateful for my accomplishments, including becoming the first African American owner of an N.F.L. Team – The Washington Commanders. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the first Black quarterback to start and win the Super Bowl, my friend, Mr. Doug Williams.’

Among the honored was Jerrell Deborah Hall, Principal of Matt Kelly Elementary School, celebrated for her dedication to Las Vegas’ urban communities. Her projects can be supported through Donors Choose, emphasizing the event’s commitment to making a tangible difference. The bash was supported by an impressive roster of sponsors, including the visionary Grand Marnier, organic Sunstone Winery, and innovative brands like I.G.K. and Beauty Kitchen, showcasing a commitment to quality and sustainability.

Andre Cleveland, CEO of Fat Cats LIVE! and President of The Y.E.S. Society, shared the collaborative spirit behind the event, stating, ‘With barely 3 weeks to produce it, I reached out to my friend Steve Hill (LVCVA President) who introduced me to the Fontainebleau family and voila, here we are. I want to thank team Fat Cats LIVE! for their tireless efforts to help my dreams come to fruition… Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson and his team who always challenges me to ‘bring it.’

This exclusive event was more than a party; it was a homage to the heart and soul of sports, entertainment, and the enduring power of community. It stood as a beacon of what’s possible in the black-owned casino market, symbolizing a bright future filled with promise and diversity. The Y.E.S. Society, at the heart of this grand event, aims to unite through the universal languages of arts, sports, and more, with a mission to create sustainability, educate, and uplift the underprivileged, all in the spirit of love.”
