Scarlet 2: Claude references the antagonist in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the artist previously revealed
Doja Cat unleashed Scarlet 2 Claude on Friday, the deluxe offering of her fourth studio album that arrived back in September.
Titled after the antagonist in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the expanded version features seven new songs, including “Masc” featuring Teezo Touchdown, “Acknowledge Me,” “Headhigh,” “Okloser,” “Piss,” “Urrrge!!!!!!!!!!” with A$AP Rocky” and “Disrespectful.”
She teased the “Masc” on Instagram last month sharing a brief snippet of the track. Doja Cat also alluded to the Scarlet continuation in February, when she shared a potential track list for Scarlet 2.
The rapper and singer discussed the upcoming extended edition of Scarlet earlier this year during an interview on the Therapy Gecko podcast. “I feel like it connects to the story of Scarlet in some degree and if you look up his personality traits and who he is and his story, you’ll understand the whole connection. There’s a control aspect — he just abuses his power and his control,” she explained. “There’s nothing anything very personal happening to me with one person. Claude Frollo doesn’t depict a single person in my life. It’s like a metaphor for the people that creatives endure on a daily basis.”
Doja Cat is set to headline Coachella this year alongside Lana Del Rey and Tyler, the Creator, with the shows taking place in Indio, California, on the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21. The “Paint the Town Red” artist last performed at Coachella in 2022 for the festival’s first year back from Covid, where she played one of the standout sets of the entire weekend.
