It’s Really Happening: Oasis Will Reunite for a World Tour in 2025

Hell has not frozen over, but Oasis have reunited.

Fifteen years after their breakup, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have apparently put aside their differences, announcing a run of concerts in the U.K. and Ireland for 2025. The group announced the Oasis Live ’25 tour early Tuesday morning, though details on North American shows have yet to be announced. It’s also unclear which original band members will join the Gallagher brothers.

Oasis will perform in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin in the summer of 2025. A press release notes these are their only shows in Europe next year and that “plans are underway for Oasis Live ’25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year.”

“The guns have fallen silent,” the band said in a statement. “The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

The band officially confirmed the reunion after a weekend of rumors and social media speculation (that just happened to coincide with the 2024 Reading Festival — which Oasis headlined 24 years ago in 2000 — and the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe). Reports started to emerge that the Gallaghers had settled their 15-year feud and would announce a series of 2025 gigs in the U.K.

Admittedly, similar rumors have cropped up over the years, and at first, Liam — insatiable poster that he is — seemed to dispel them once again, replying to fan inquiries with “News to me” and “I know nothing.” But eventually Gallagher’s tweets grew more teasing and open-ended, including the stand-alone message, “I never did like that word FORMER.”

On Sunday, the Oasis account appeared to confirm something, tweeting the message, “27.08.24, 8am.”

Oasis were one of the defining bands of the Britpop era and one of the biggest in the world for nearly two decades. During their initial run, between 1991 and 2009, they released seven albums, including classics like Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?

The size of the band’s success during the Nineties and 2000s, however, was often matched only by the long-running tensions between Noel and Liam. After the band split, the brothers never shied from taking shots at each other in the press, often insisting the other was the reason Oasis would never get back together.

Since Oasis disbanded, both Gallagher brothers have focused on other projects. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have released four albums since 2011, the most recent, Council Skies, arriving last year. Liam, meanwhile, released two albums with the band Beady Eye, followed by three solo records; earlier this year, he dropped a collaborative effort with John Squire.

Tickets for the U.K. dates go on sale from 9 a.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 31 and will be available on Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours, and See Tickets. Dublin tickets will be available from 8 a.m. local time that same day on Ticketmaster.
