Simone Biles’s Friends and Family Take Center Stage in This Sweet New Athleta Video

We know that Simone Biles is great — really, truly, undeniably great — but behind every successful athlete (even unstoppable ones who haven’t lost an all-around competition in eight years) is a team of supporters. Biles’s first campaign with new apparel partner Athleta, entitled “The Power of We,” highlights people who have done their part in helping shape her into the performer and woman she is today.

In the campaign video seen below and shot in Biles’s hometown gym, World Champions Centre, she gets up on the balance beam to move through choreography that includes a switch leap and a front tuck dismount. Her support system is there to watch her and cheer her on. The video is part of Athleta’s broader Power of She mission that launched in 2016, and it features a slew of faces, some familiar: Biles’s mom, Nellie; Biles’s sister Adria; Sammi, Biles’s sister-in-law; Biles’s best friend, Rachel Moore; coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi; agent Janey Miller; as well as teammates like Jordan Chiles. (Yes, we get a glimpse of boyfriend Jonathan Owens, too!)

“I’ve learned your circle is everything. You become who you hang out with,” Biles said in a statement sent to POPSUGAR. “Fortunately for me, it’s all family/friends I can also look up to.” She continued, “I am where I am today because my community has supported me to be my best, most confident self on and off the mat. Athleta shares that value of community, and we had so much fun creating this ad that celebrates the importance of connection and support.”

Biles’s mom told Athleta that she encourages her daughter to believe in herself, and Canqueteau-Landi says she listens to Biles with an open heart and mind. You can check out more of what the Olympian’s loved ones had to say on the campaign landing page. And, ahead, you’ll also find photos from The Power of We shoot. Because what are gold medals — or goat leotards — if you don’t have anyone to share them with?
