There’s nothing like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg‘s musical connection. In an interview Monday, after the pair took the stage at a California beach as part of the Paris Olympics‘ closing ceremony, Dr. Dre shared his love for performing alongside Snoop.

“It’s magical. I don’t even feel comfortable performing without Snoop,” Dre told Entertainment Tonight. “Something about the synergy that me and Snoop have is really interesting.”

“Really, Snoop, he’s the superstar. I’m the co-star when we get on stage,” he added. “It’s different when we’re in the studio, you know? I’m the captain when we’re in the studio, but when we go outside, Snoop is the guy.”

The new interview comes a day after Dre and Snoop performed from a beach in Southern California, alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billie Eilish, to commemorate the transition from the 2024 Olympics in Paris to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Dre added that the Olympic Committee made sure that everything about their performance was “handled” with care, and kept a secret before it aired on NBC.

“I was wondering how they were gonna do that and nobody had cell phones or anything like that. It was filmed the day before it aired,” Dre said. “So trying to keep that a secret for that amount of time seems like it would’ve been impossible, but they made it happen!”

In his ET interview, Dre shared that he and Snoop were “working together again” for the first time in 30 years on his upcoming album, sharing that this time around, things are much more fun.

“We were kids at that time, you know what I mean? Snoop may have been like 18 or 19 years old and I’m, I think, I’m six years older than him,” Dre said. “So we were kids at that time, and this one is gonna show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music.”

“I feel like this is some of the best music I’ve done in my career,” said The Chronic legend.

Earlier this year, the pair stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared they working together on the upcoming album, Missionary. “The first album I’ve done with Snoop was in 1993 and it’s the only album I’ve ever produced on Snoop,” Dr. Dre said at the time. “So now, believe it or not, we’re getting together again and we’re almost done with the album. The first album was called Doggystyle, so we decided to flip it and call this one Missionary.”

Snoop Dogg had a wild two weeks in Paris covering the Olympics for NBC. Right before the conclusion of the games, he gifted Simone Biles’ dad a Death Row gold chain for his 75th birthday.
