Human resources (HR) is a vital aspect of all modern businesses, ensuring that the hiring and retention processes run smoothly for all employees. HR technology has redefined the way that many professionals support their businesses, and many are already adopting these practices in everyday operations. In fact, 1 in 3 human resources professionals are currently using HR technology, with the rest not far behind. The working definition for this new technology is any software or hardware that is used to simplify the processes for hiring, onboarding, training, retaining, and delighting employees. Because of this versatility, these new techniques are already making a difference in several industries.

From employees, to HR professionals, to entire businesses, studies are showing several major changes that HR technology has enabled across industries. First, nearly 80% of employees report believing that HR technology adoption benefits their overall work experience. Additionally, 82% of businesses consider this new technology to be a critical component in their success. Finally, 75% of HR professionals report seeing improvements in the recruitment process through the use of HR technology.

Alongside these testimonies are the several benefits that adopting this technology has brought to the table. Namely, 40% faster HR tasks, 23% faster recruitment, and a 17% decrease in turnover rates are some of the earliest results of the adoption.  Studies have also indicated that 83% of HR professionals are reporting a positive return on investment with the technology, and 43% are reporting improvements in employee satisfaction. It is clear that human resource departments are transforming people’s lives using these new systems, reinventing all aspects of traditional operations.

The HR tech landscape continues to improve and develop new programs to help employees in all stages of the hiring process. First, employee referral software has been introduced to give existing employees the chance to easily gain from new talent they can bring to the company. This technology helps to boost employee referral numbers and can decrease employee turnover by 50%. Performance management software has become more common within the HR space, helping professionals to track employee goals, performances and objectives. In fact, high-performing HR teams are 2.6 times more likely to use performance management software.

Applicant tracking systems are another result of advanced HR technology. This helps to streamline the process of monitoring candidates from recruitment to hiring. Workflow automation systems are advanced in that they use artificial intelligence to hire faster and increase candidate satisfaction. Similarly, candidate relationship management software can help to engage new hires and nurture positive relationships with them within the company. Finally, talent marketplace platforms are only made better through the use of HR technology. Through this system, companies can apply to the top talent, rather than the traditional way which reduces the time needed to hire.

With all of these benefits, experts agree that choosing the right HR tech PR agency to work with the HR department is paramount. Public relations teams have the power, connections, and expertise to bring HR technology to the forefront in all industries. First, PR teams are able to leverage media connections within the HR technology market. This includes securing media coverage, creating opportunities for quotes in the top media publications, or even pitching bylines in industry outlets to spread the word.

Public relations professionals also have connections to industry analysts and can facilitate interactions with people who have incentive to share relevant news. These analysts can provide a platform to present products and innovations, allow for these companies to establish a positive reputation in the space, and can help to keep the brand at the top of the minds of industry leaders.

Some PR teams also deal with content creation, which can come in the form of infographics, articles, custom video content, or even news outlet releases. This engages the brand’s target audience on the platforms that they frequent the most. Thought leadership is another key piece to utilizing PR teams, which helps to build credibility through public appearances in op-eds, podcasts, or in person speaking opportunities. Finally, public relations teams can facilitate strategic networking events to showcase this new technology. This will help to connect with potential customers, partners, and even industry influencers that can further spread the good word about the product.

For as much work as human resources professionals put into the development of new technology, there is a need for a public relations team to take it to the next level. In a time when public opinion is so important to the success of a business, the teaming up of HR and PR teams will ensure that this vital technology reaches the eyes and ears of stakeholders across industries.
