Prince Charles tested positive for COVID on Thursday morning, and Queen Elizabeth II is “being monitored” for symptoms, a source confirmed with Us Weekly. The two saw each other on Tuesday, two days before his diagnosis, at an event at Windsor Castle where the Queen is staying. The Queen, 95, is fully vaccinated and is currently showing no symptoms.

Prince Charles, 73, who is also fully vaccinated, has been self-isolating since Thursday. This is the second time Prince Charles has had COVID, as he also tested positive in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.

Buckingham Palace has not revealed whether Queen Elizabeth has been tested for COVID. But ABC News royal contributor Victoria Murphy said, “With the queen, they’re balancing the situation. She is head of state and there is a sense that the public does need and want to know, but at the same time, she’s a very elderly lady who is entitled to a certain amount of medical privacy.”

A royal source told People that regular updates about the Queen’s health will not be provided. Her doctors have encouraged the Queen to rest. She’s taken on a more modified schedule and will remain under close observation.
