Go Slow Definition

Go Slow is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as, “to slow down”. In our society today, we have become so accustomed to constantly being on the go and overworking ourselves. We tend to say yes to doing things without properly thinking about it because we don’t want to disappoint our bosses, spouses, friends, etc., but we are disappointing ourselves and those around us. We fall into what is called people pleasing and according to the Cambridge Dictionary it is defined as, “someone who cares a lot about whether other people like them and always wants others to approve of their actions”. We live in a world where being liked whether in person or online by clicking “like” on a photograph has become our new norm.

Constantly being on the go causes us to burn out which in turn leads to stress and irritability and it can also turn out to affect us mentally, physically, and even emotionally. When you are operating at a faster pace in your personal life or your work life, you tend to miss out on the small and sometimes important moments. This tends to occur because you are operating at a maximum velocity that you may not be able to see what is directly in front of you. This can also lead to miscommunication with the people in your life which

The concept of “Go Slow” is foreign to many people because slowing down to look at our lives and what is occurring can be challenging especially if they are accustomed to always being busy and doing things. As an article in the Harvard Business Review said, “When you “slow down to speed up,” you allow yourself to take a steadier pace in exchange for a greater degree of control and focus over your work as a whole. (“Need Speed? Slow Down”)
