When I set up my business, I thought about the processes that I wanted to apply to my clients as owners of small and medium-sized businesses. I saw many parallels between how I could help my clients as an advisor and as a coach. My role would benefit them as people (as leaders, managers, and business owners) and would also benefit their businesses. I realized that a unified approach could be applied to both roles.

I envisaged the process as one that would firstly require a shift by the client in terms of their current thinking to prepare them for movement, followed by the awareness of the new possibilities and creation of ideas, and then finally the realization of the ideas as growth and change towards the satisfaction of their goals and aspirations. From this foundation, I created the concept of “Innovate Transform Grow” which has become the tagline for my business, but also a model for the coaching (and advisory) process within the business.

Within “Innovate Transform Grow”, I visualize the client going on a journey of discovery that leads them through a mental process that unlocks their thinking in the first stage, creates solutions to their issues, situations, and problems through their own awareness in the second stage, and concludes with action steps that move them to the realization of their vision and goals in the final stage.

The Innovate, Transform, Grow Coaching Model

The “Innovate Transform Grow” model is based on the business principles of:

Empowerment– the client can make significant progress with the experience and knowledge that they already have, guided and focused with the help of a coach.

Elevation – that the change is permanent. The benefit my client receives shouldn’t wither after I’m gone, but rather they continue to thrive and prosper through an elevation of their awareness, skills, and application.

Innovate

Innovation is a creative process of your mind, the application of your knowledge in novel ways that help unblock the current status quo in yourself. It is a commitment to unleash your potential by fostering innovation within yourself and the way you think. With our guidance and support, we help you to prepare yourself for new ideas and solutions to emerge from your own awareness, your own knowledge, and your experience and passion for the business.

Transform

Transformation is the focus on execution, rethinking, and redefining your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and behaviors. Even subtle transformations can have profound and wide-ranging impacts. We guide you to undertake the necessary transformations within yourself to reach your vision.

Grow

Growth is a natural outcome of the first two stages. It encompasses your personal growth and fulfillment of objectives, consolidation of your vision, and the realization of your goals.

The symbolic representation of “Innovate Transform Grow” is a triangle. The journey repeats itself after each cycle, showing that growth and change an everlasting gifts and the opportunities for continual personal development can build upon each other. One trip around the triangle is just the beginning.

The colors deliberately start darker and get lighter. The dark blue at the first stage represents the difficulty of the challenge of “Innovation”, where the individual must confront and accept their current situation and ways of thinking, often a difficult but rewarding opportunity. As you move around the triangle, the colors get lighter, depicting the relative momentum that has gathered from the stage before as the “light” shines in. The last stage is the brightest as “Growth” is acknowledged, and the individual takes their reward for their work.

The Innovate, Transform, Grow Coaching Model Helping Small Businesses

Through the “Innovate Transform Grow” model I hope to be able to bring to the small business community a coaching model which focuses on results relevant to the business owner with an emphasis on helping them grow as individuals in their roles as leaders within their own organizations.

The model is simple by design and uses energising and captivating words to describe each stage which resonate well with the industrious business owner. The model stages also represent qualities that are familiar to the business owners from their own experience running their firms. The words “Innovate”, “Transform” and “Grow” are inspiring and motivational to any business owner, especially those choosing to undertake the journey of self-discovery and growth offered through the coaching program.

I am looking forward to bringing the coaching model to more clients in the future and gauging its long-term success.
