On International Women’s Day, the world celebrates women whose dedication and vision help make life better for others. One such woman is Lorraine Silvetz, whose work focuses on improving emotional well-being and bringing awareness to the growing issue of stress in modern society.

As the founder of the Global Stress Initiative (GSI), Lorraine has devoted her efforts to helping people understand the profound impact stress can have on individuals, families, and communities. Through educational outreach, advocacy, and treatment programs, the initiative encourages non-invasive approaches to mental and emotional wellness while promoting compassion and understanding in a fast-paced world.

Silvetz believes that alleviating stress is not simply a personal issue but a global concern that affects productivity, relationships, and overall quality of life. Her work through the Global Stress Initiative highlights the importance of awareness, prevention, and support systems that empower people to manage life’s pressures more effectively. By bringing attention to these issues, she has helped open conversations about mental wellness that are often overlooked. In 2010 she founded Global Stress Initiative for raising funds for research into non-invasive modalities and treatment of veterans, service members, domestic violence and human trafficking survivors with PTSD. Since 2013, she and her partner, Dr. Robert Silvetz have had 99% efficacy treating PTSD using individualized transcranial magnetic stimulation or (iTMS).

Having been a model in her early 20’s she was asked to return to the runway as Brand Ambassador for Avadora Mimouni luxury handbags and soon launched “Models of Philanthropy” to advocate for worthy causes from the runway in 2019. She continued to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes with many NYFW designers NYFW shows. Her credo is “Beauty is not skin deep and is more about actions and making the world a better place.”

Most recently, the United Nations Accredited NGO MCIF Platinum Who’s Who Certificate of Achievement Humanitarian Award was bestowed on Lorraine Silvetz, for her unwavering dedication to humanity and her extraordinary vision for a more compassionate world. This award celebrates leaders whose dreams uplift others and whose actions inspire global change. The award was signed and awarded by Ambassador Dr. Monica Sanchez.

What makes Lorraine Silvetz particularly inspiring is her commitment to service and her belief that small acts of care can ripple outward into meaningful change. She represents a growing movement of women who are dedicating their time and energy to humanitarian causes that improve both emotional health and social well-being.
